Understanding Covenant Theology - Richard D. Phillips

Anyone who questions the importance of the covenant idea to the Bible need only glance at the Bible’s table of contents. There they will see the headings “Old Testament” and “New Testament.” The word “testament” is really “covenant.” That is how the Bible is divided: Old Covenant and New Covenant. Obviously, covenant is an important idea to the Bible, yet most Christians seldom think in these terms. In fact, the Bible’s story is organized in terms of the Bible’s covenants, and the Christian’s relationship to God is a covenant relationship. But what is covenant theology all about? What is the relationship of covenant theology to the gospel? How does covenant thinking affect my outlook on all of life? To answer these and many more questions, come and attend our new Wednesday evening teaching series by Pastor Rick Phillips. Understanding covenant theology is vital to understanding the Bible as a whole, and understanding the Bible is vital to our faith and salvation. So you will not want to miss these Wednesday evenings, in which Pastor Phillips will teach “Understanding Covenant Theology.”

Biblical Reflections on Marriage - Richard D. Phillips

The family is the building block of the Christian church, and at the heart of the Christian family is the Christian marriage. Yet the statistics reveal that many Christian marriages are struggling. Realizing the biblical ideal of marriage requires us to understand God’s design for marriage and also to live out the grace that is made available to us through faith in Christ. During this seven week series, Pastor Phillips will walk through the biblical portrait of marriage, helping us especially to understand the effects of sin and the power of God’s redeeming grace. The goal is not only to protect our marriages from trouble, but to help us to realize the biblical calling for marriage as holy and joyful companionship in love.
