Rev. Robert Spears is a native of Augusta, Georgia, but moved around the entire Southeast-ending up in Birmingham, Alabama, for his most of his school years. He graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked as engineer and manager at the Savannah River Site for fifteen years. Sensing a call to the gospel ministry through ministry at First Presbyterian Church in Augusta, Georgia, he pursued Master of Divinity and Master of Theology degrees at Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, MS.  Pastor Spears joined the staff of Second Church in 1996.
 
 He is married to Jenny, his wife of twenty-seven years and they have four children: Daniel (a civil engineer, Katie (who is married to Joe Hambright), Rebekah (who is married to Nathaniel Johnson), and David, who went to be  with his Lord in 2006.   He and his wife are also thankful grandparents of "baby Nate," the son of Rebekah and Nathaniel.
  
 Pastor Spears serves as "associate" to the senior pastor and assists in worship, preaching, teaching, counseling, and pastoring the congregation (along with some occasional diaconal activities!!) He constantly expresses his thankfulness to our Lord for bringing him to

Second Presbyterian Church.
